PRICING and SAMPLE TYPES
All standards and reference materials are priced at $15.00 for a one millimeter grain unless otherwise noted in the specific sample description. There is no charge for shipping by ordinary first class mail. Express mail charges are billed at cost. Payment must be made by institutional check, cashier's check, Western Union, Wire Transfer or Money Order. Charge cards can not be processed.
Grains are attached to a Cannon Microprobe sample card and fixed in place with non-gummy translucent tape. Data on the materials is provided via an e-mail attachment. A good electron microprobe standard is a rare and treasured item. It must have an accurate analysis of trace and major constituents, it must be stable under the electron beam and it must be homogeneous. Over the years, I've encountered very few electron microprobe standards that actually possess all of the qualities just mentioned. The individual laboratory itself must verify that a particular material can qualify as a true electron microprobe standard for the purpose intended at that laboratory. For this reason, I consider most of the items in this catalog to be "reference materials", and they must be converted to a new electron microprobe standard by the cross analysis of other very well characterized standards in the laboratory's own collection.
The materials in this catalog are guaranteed to be correctly identified, but there is no guarantee relating to accuracy of analysis, purity, homogeneity or suitability to purpose. That being stated, materials that prove grossly unsatisfactory will be credited their value to the customer's account. It is not necessary to "pluck" them out of their mount and return them. I am keenly interested in user feedback about the characteristics of the materials I offer.
CUSTOM STANDARD BLOCKS
Cannon Microprobe can prepare cast polished blocks in the following sizes: 0.5, 1.0, 1.25 inch round and 0.5 inch square. Up to 100 grains can be mounted in a single 0.5 round mount. To achieve a uniform polish, materials harder than Moh's 8 should not be included on a block containing soft materials. The block preparation charge is $95.00. The mounting charge is $2.50 per grain.
